GAVIN CAMPBELL

Having created and DJed at several influential 1980s & ‘90s Melbourne clubbing icons; Swelter, Razor, Temple, Savage, Tasty, Bump! and Uranus, along with a successful stint as co-creator, musical director and resident DJ at Melbourne’s most recent clubbing jugganaut Poof Doof and with his ongoing, long term DJ residency at world renowned Melbourne quarterly event Trough X, Campbell’s relevance today is ever strong.

The legendary, Melbourne based DJ has been at it for over 30 years and is just as comfortable playing techno sets, as he is with house music, disco and funk. Campbell has recently returned to the studio, where his magic extends to remixing and production.  Hot on the heels of his recent triumphant events, celebrating milestone anniversaries for Razor and Tasty, his most recent solo track “The Saboteurs” (featuring Evangeline), spent four weeks on top of Melbourne’s Kiss FM dance chart, as well as spending several weeks in the ARIA club chart.

Another recent project, the 25th Anniversary remix project for Yothu Yindi's Treaty, has resulted in Gavin spearheading a new live show called Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project, which debuted at Strawberry Fields 2017, followed by appearances at Queenscliff Music Festival, Sydney Opera House and Enmore Theatre. Gavin performs onstage as a central member of this unique ensemble, using a Toraiz SP-16 sampler, Cymatic LP 16 and also playing live percussion.

Gavin has recently expanded his production outfit Filthy Lucre to include Melbourne DJ/producer Nick Coleman and multi-instrumentalist and Circus Oz musical director Ania Reynolds. The new Filthy Lucre has created new material for the new show, some of which is set for release in 2018
